Day 102
Well Cousin Steve and his lady Julia make it in tonight. Ags and I will be having dinner with them somewhere where we can watch the Cavs/Heat game on TNT. Looking forward to it. Speaking of basketball, I watched the Duke/Boston College game last night on ESPN. First off, it was a great game won by Duke 85-83. The atmosphere at the Conti Forum in Boston was great. Everyone in the crowd had on Gold t-shirts, the BC players fed off of the crowd and the Duke players relished in it. I've said this before, but it bears repeating. How can anyone say the NBA is a better watch than college basketball? Regular season NBA games are about as exciting as watching the grass grow if you don't have Lebron James or Kobe Bryant on your team. I can watch Cavs games because of Lebron, but the years leading up to the Lebron era were unwatchable. Dan McNeil, the #1 sports talk host in Chicago said last week that the NBA "is like watching the Senior PGA Tour." I think that is a great analogy. Who is watching a Golden State/Denver game on Friday night on ESPN? You can say the same thing about major league baseball, but baseball has the history and thousands of Americans play fantasy baseball keeping interest throughout the league. Why would anyone want to go to a Tuesday night NBA regular season game when any good seat is $75 and up? A Family of four can go to a baseball game for $100 and sit in good seats in most ballparks. Plus its the summertime, people love being outside in the summer for a ball game. Moving back to college hoops, the tickets are affordable, the fan base for the programs are rabid, and the kids are still coachable. I read in the Sporting News this morning how Atlanta Hawks G Salim Stoudamire was benched for 2 games because after he was removed during a game, he threw his towel and inhaler at the coaches after sitting down. Vintage NBA bullshit right there. You do that to your college coach and you are done. Give me KU/Missouri over a Cavs/Heat game all day long. Anyone out there who can help Leah get a new job, let us know. They changed her role around at work and this just isn't going to fit what she can do. They have laid off 20 people from her team and are jagging her around with this new role. Add in her horrible commute and you have a recipe for a new job. Anyone who can help email me. I have her resume ready!Sorry to be so short today, but I am swamped here with work.Song of the Day: "Tired of Bein Alone" by Al Green
